Sources: Danny Green to the New York Knicks in three team deal

The Miami HEAT have agreed to send veteran guard, Danny Green to the New York Knicks in a three team deal with the Washington Wizards, league sources tell GMAT Sports.

The New York Knicks will send Luol Deng and forward Amare Stoudemire to the Washington Wizards in return for Danny Green, Alan Anderson and Mitch McGary from the Miami HEAT.  Washington will in return send Dante Exum, Nenê, and both Utah's 2016 and 2018 first round draft choices to the Miami HEAT.  Alongside Dante Exum, Miami will receive the New York Knicks' 2021 first round draft pick and European big man, Guillermo Hernangomez.

How do the Numbers Work?
Over the soft cap, the Miami HEAT are not yet in the luxury tax,  forcing them to comply with the the rule that states that the incoming salary must fall under the outgoing salary plus five million dollars.  Because the outgoing salary of the Miami HEAT is $12,363,040, the Miami HEAT are able to absorb $16,777,720.

The Washington Wizards, with an outgoing salary of $12,363,040, are able to cleanly take in the $16,777,720 of salary of  Luol Deng and Amare Stoudemire.

The New York Knicks fall within the rule that allows for teams to take an additional five million dollars of salary, able to cleanly take in $12,363,040 of salary by sending out $11,098,888 in return.

Side Notes
  • Both Luol Deng and Amare Stoudemire were traded to New York in a four team deal involving both Robin Lopez and Mario Chalmers.
  • Since his initial trade sending him to the Utah Jazz, Mario Chalmers has been traded an additional three times; he was sent to Indiana who quickly packaged him and Ryan Andersen to the Denver Nuggets for rebounding specialist Kenneth Faried. He was then shipped, from Denver, to the New York Knicks, a place he initially almost landed in the original, four team deal.
  • In addition, forward Mitch McGary came to the Miami HEAT in the deal originally sending Luol Deng to New York, and is now heading back to the team he once came.
  • Negotiations originally involved New York's 2018 First Round Draft Pick, but the pick was postponed to 2021.
